Track & Field Dreams ("we," "our," "us") is committed to protecting the online privacy and safety of children under the age of 13 in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). This COPPA Compliance Statement explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information from children under 13 who use our platform.
1. Scope of COPPA Compliance
This policy applies to all users under age 13 who create, access, or interact with athlete profiles or related services on the Track & Field Dreams platform.
Track & Field Dreams does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
2. Information We Collect From Children Under 13
If an athlete under age 13 uses our service, we may collect the following information only after verified parental consent:
2.1 Required Information
- Athlete name (first name, last initial recommended)
- Parent/guardian name
- Parent/guardian email address
- Athlete's age and date of birth (for verification purposes)
- Athlete performance statistics (times, distances, heights)
- Athlete school and graduation year
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Browser type
- Device type
- Cookies used for functionality (no behavioral ads)
We do not allow children under 13 to upload photos, videos, or open communication channels.
3. How We Use This Information
We use children's information solely for the following:
- Creating and maintaining an athlete profile
- Providing recruiting exposure to verified college coaches
- Allowing parental oversight features
- Sending parent/guardian notifications regarding profile activity
- Ensuring the safety and integrity of the service
We do not:
- Display full last names of children under 13
- Allow children to communicate directly with coaches
- Use their information for marketing or advertising
4. Parent/Guardian Consent
Before an account for a child under 13 becomes active, we require verifiable parental consent using one of the approved COPPA methods:
Acceptable Consent Methods
- Parent confirms consent via a link sent to their email
- Parent uploads a signed consent form
- Parent provides verified payment method authorization (even for $0 charge)
- Government ID verification (with secure third-party provider)
The child's profile remains inaccessible until consent is verified.
5. Parental Rights
Parents have full rights under COPPA to:
5.1 Review Information
Parents may review the personal information collected from their child at any time by logging into their parent dashboard or contacting support.
5.2 Request Deletion
Parents may request that Track & Field Dreams:
- Delete their child's profile
- Remove specific pieces of information
- Disable future data collection
5.3 Revoke Consent
Parents may withdraw consent at any time, resulting in the deletion of the child's personal information.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or share personal information of children under 13.
Information may be disclosed only:
- To verified NCAA-compliant college coaches
- To service providers who assist with platform operations (all under strict confidentiality obligations)
- As required by law
We never allow third-party advertising networks, behavioral tracking, or non-essential cookies.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS)
- Encrypted storage of sensitive data
- Password protection and multi-factor authentication for parent accounts
- Restricted access to children's data
If a security breach occurs, we follow all legal notification requirements.
8. Limitations for Children Under 13
To comply with COPPA, athletes under 13 have restricted features:
- No direct messaging with coaches
- No public contact information
- No photo or video uploads
- Limited public visibility of profile fields
- Parent-only communication channels
College coaches can view metrics but cannot contact the child directly. Messages go to the parent or guardian only.
9. Changes to the COPPA Policy
We may update this COPPA Statement to reflect changes in practices or legal requirements.
Parents will be notified via email and dashboard alerts of any significant updates.
